Those credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of tools and equipment; select and use tools and equipment; and maintain tools and equipment. Evidence requirements 1.1 Purpose of tools and equipment is identified according to tool manufacturer's specifications and company policy. 1.2 Principle of how tools and equipment operate is identified according to tool manufacturer's specifications and company policy. 1.3 Importance of maintaining tools and equipment is identified according to tool manufacturer's specifications and company policy. Evidence requirements 2.1 Tools and equipment that enable the job to be carried out are identified and used according to tool and vehicle manufacturers' specifications and company policy. 2.2 Tools and equipment are used in a manner and purpose for which they are designed according to tool manufacturer's specifications and company policy. 2.3 Measuring equipment is identified and used, and all measurements are according to specification. Range 2.4 rules, tapes, straight edges, squares, compass. Tools used for cutting materials are identified and used, and the material is cut according to the tool manufacturer's recommendations and company policy. Range scissors, knives, saws, hot knives, pattern knives, cutting machines, skill saw, jig saw, wood plane file. 2.5 Power tools are identified and used according to tool manufacturer's specifications. 2.6 Tools and equipment are clean and put away in their place when finished with according to company policy. 2.7 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task. Range personal safety, safety to other people, environmental safety; vehicle safety; tool, equipment, and machine safety. Outcome 3 Maintain tools and equipment. Evidence requirements 3.1 Tools and equipment are clean, lubricated after use, and stored in their proper place without loss or damage. 3.2 Cutting tools and drills are sharp and operate according to tool manufacturer's specifications. 3.3 Tools and equipment are maintained in a safe working condition according to tool manufacturer's specifications and company policy.
