Identify and use a mixing bank and scales in the automotive

Purpose
This unit standard is for people who work in the automotive
refinishing industry. Those credited with this unit standard are
able: demonstrate knowledge of scale sand mixing machines;
demonstrate knowledge of paint formulas; and mix colours to
formula.

– Health and Safety in Employment Act, 1992;
– Spray Coating Regulations, 1962.

Paint codes on vehicles are located and identified according to vehicle
manufacturer's information.

Colour codes on microfiche film are identified according to vehicle
manufacturer's information.
2.3
Paint formulas for different kinds of paint are identified according to paint
manufacturer's specifications and the acceptable industry standard.

Tinters that make up formulas are identified according to paint manufacturer's
specifications.

Equipment and materials are clean and put away in their places, and the work
area is clean.
3.5
Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task.
