Definitions
Company policy and company procedures mean the documented methods for
performing work activities and include health and safety, operational, environmental,
and quality management requirements. They may refer to manuals, codes of
practice, or policy statements.
Industry best practice refers to those practices which competent practitioners within
the industry recognise as current industry best practice. These may be documented
in management plans, company procedures or requirements, managers’ rules,
occupational health and safety policy, industry guidelines, codes of practice,
manufacturers’ instructions, and safe working and/or job procedures (or equivalent).

Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Carry out pre-start checks to static primary crushing plant.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Crusher pre-start checks are carried out in accordance with company policy and
industry best practice.

belts, lubrication, safety guards, warning signals, oil levels, greasing,
water spray system.
A visual check is conducted on machinery to identify mechanical problems in
accordance with company policy and industry best practice.

Crushing plant is sequentially started in accordance with company procedures.
2.2
Conveyors, screens, and other ancillary equipment are operated in accordance
with manufacturer’s specifications and plant configuration.

Material is test-crushed through plant and product is checked for compliance with
specifications.

Machinery loads are monitored to ensure that they remain within specified
capacities in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, company procedures,
and industry best practice.
3.5
Procedures for safe operating of crushing plant are followed in accordance with
manufacturer’s specifications, company procedures, and industry best practice.
