NZQA Expiring unit standard 3203 version 6 Page 1 of 3 Title Integrate ventilation and air conditioning systems components Level 4 Credits 15 Purpose This unit standard is for people who work, or intend to work, in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning sector of the engineering industry. People credited with this unit standard are able to: set up the job for ventilation and air conditioning systems; integrate the ventilation and air conditioning equipment and distribution components; and test the pipe work and duct work. Classification Mechanical Engineering > Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning Available grade Achieved Entry information Critical health and safety prerequisites Prerequisites: Unit 3240, Install mechanical services plant to plans and specifications under supervision; Unit 3244, Install control components to plans and specifications under supervision; or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills. Explanatory notes 1 Work site documents include contracts and any documented installation and operating procedures for the system. 2 Set up the job means prepare to install and integrate ventilation and air conditioning equipment, distribution components, and insulation. 3 All work site practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented safety procedures and safety plans (where these exceed code) for personal and work site safety, and obligations required under current legislation. 4 Installation programme refers to any documented programme for installing the system (eg, a construction programme). 5 Integrate means to install components and check details to ensure that they relate correctly to each other to form a functioning system, and that components are installed to conform to system principles for correct operation. Competenz SSB Code 101571 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA Expiring unit standard 6 3203 version 6 Page 2 of 3 Assessment of this unit standard will only be completed after commissioning of the system shows no faults with the integration of equipment and components. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Set up the job for ventilation and airconditioning systems. Evidence requirements 1.1 System installation drawings are checked against the work site and confirmed or modified as suiting the site conditions. 1.2 Equipment and components required for the system’s installation are checked against the schedule(s) of quantities and manufacturer’s and supplier’s data and procured. 1.3 Installation of system is coordinated with other trades. Range 1.4 building, water, gas, electricity, plumbing. Permits and consents are verified as meeting job relevance, date and authorisation. Outcome 2 Integrate ventilation or air conditioning equipment and distribution components. Evidence requirements 2.1 Components and equipment are related to each other in the positions laid down in the work site documents. 2.2 Installation of equipment and components occurs in the sequence laid down in the installation programme and work site documents. 2.3 Integration of equipment and components complies with quality plans, specifications and requirements. Outcome 3 Test the pipe work and duct work. Evidence requirements 3.1 Tests are done and recorded in accordance with work site documents. Range Competenz SSB Code 101571 equipment and component operational tests, system integrity (no leaks) tests. This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place before the expiry date set out below. Status and review information Expiring date 16 July 2010 Date version published 16 July 2010 Expiry date 31 December 2016 Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP) reference 0013 This AMAP can be accessed at http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/framework/search/index.do. Please note Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Consent requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
