Purpose
This unit standard is for people who work, or intend to work, in
the heating, ventilation and air conditioning sector of the
engineering industry. People credited with this unit standard
are able to: check installation, connections and cleanliness of
air conditioning and ventilation system; check system operation
and completion; and record and report on the system.

Critical health and
safety prerequisites
Open, however, it is recommended that people undertaking
assessment for this unit standard are already credited with Unit
3203, Integrate ventilation and air conditioning systems
components, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.
Explanatory notes
1
Work site documents include contracts, drawings and any installation documents for
the installed air conditioning or ventilation system.
2
All work site practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented
safety procedures and safety plans (where these exceed code) for personal and work
site safety, and obligations required under current legislation.
3
A general knowledge of air conditioning and ventilation systems would be
advantageous to people undertaking assessment for this standard.

2.1
Correct rotation of motors is verified in accordance with work site documents.
2.2
Circuit protective devices are verified as matching motor name plate details.
2.3
Control functions are verified against work site documents’ specifications.
2.4
Any non-completions of system are notified in accordance with company
policies and procedures.
2.5
Completion of system to work site documents is organised and followed up in
accordance with company policies and procedures.
2.6
The system is verified as being ready to run for commissioning in accordance
with company policies and procedures.
Outcome 3
Record and report on the system.
Evidence requirements
3.1
System compliance with pre-commissioning requirements is recorded in
accordance with system documents.
3.2
Pre-commissioning report is completed and actioned in accordance with system
documents and company policies and procedures.
