Explanatory notes
1
Definition
Worksite requirements – refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which
are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include – company specifications and procedures, work
instructions, manufacturer’s specifications, product quality specifications, legislative
requirements.

Legislation and standards relevant to this unit standard include – Building Act 2004,
Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, New Zealand Standard (NZS)
4223.3:1999 Glazing in buildings – Human impact safety requirements, NZS
4223.4:2008 Glazing in buildings – Wind, dead, snow, and live actions, available at

Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Prepare to glaze solar control and specialist coated glass.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Customer’s requirements are confirmed before work begins in accordance with
worksite requirements.
Range
1.2
requirements include – design details, drawings, specifications,
product information, site operational procedures.
All necessary equipment, tools and glazing materials are checked and
assembled before work begins in accordance with worksite requirements.

Site check is completed in accordance with worksite requirements.
Range
site check includes – measurements, fixing/framing methods, if
surrounds are plumb and/or level, any installation hazards, inside
and outside requirements, shading implications.
Outcome 2
Glaze solar control and specialist coated glass.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Glass measurements for edge clearance and edge cover are in accordance
with regulatory and worksite requirements.
2.2
Glass is cut to specifications without damage to glass or coatings in accordance
with worksite requirements.
2.3
Glass surface is protected during handling, transportation, installation or other
site activities in accordance with worksite requirements.
2.4
Setting blocks, location blocks, and distance pieces are used in accordance
with regulatory and worksite requirements.
2.5
Compatible sealant and glazing materials are used in accordance with
regulatory and worksite requirements.
2.6
Operations are completed without injury to personnel or damage to product and
equipment in accordance with the job specifications and worksite requirements.
2.7
Glass is cleaned and work area is left clear and cleaned in accordance with
worksite requirements.
2.8
Customer is advised of any relevant maintenance requirements in accordance
with worksite requirements.
