Explanatory notes 1 Work must be carried out in accordance with organisational requirements, licensing requirements, legislative requirements, and industrial awards and agreements. 2 Calculations may include the use of whole numbers, decimals and fractions. 3 Routine workplace estimates and calculations requiring the application of basic arithmetic processes may typically relate to pay, leave entitlements, shift allowances, materials usage, product characteristics, product tallies. 4 Product characteristics may include length, weight, capacity, time and temperature. 5 Forms for recording information may include production tally sheets, statistical process sheets or similar documentation. 6 Conversion charts or tables are those in common use in the workplace. 7 Calculations may be made manually or by calculator. 8 Records may be recorded manually or through the use of computer based systems. 9 Organisational requirements refers to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace. These requirements include but are not limited to – site specific requirements, and company quality management requirements. 10 Evidence for this unit standard must be supplied from the workplace and should cover the typical measures and data required in the dairy industry. Evidence requirements 1.1 Estimates are made of workplace measures and confirmed by calculation to meet organisational requirements. estimates could include but are not limited to – whole numbers or decimals as appropriate, use of conversion charts or tables where appropriate. Range 1.2 Arithmetic processes are used to calculate workplace measures to meet organisational requirements. Outcome 2 Record workplace data. Evidence requirements 2.1 Workplace data is recorded to meet organisational requirements. 2.2 Errors in recording information are identified and rectified according to organisational requirements.
