Definitions
Company requirements include the policy, procedures, and methodologies of the
company. They include legislative and regulatory requirements which may apply
across the company or to a specific site. Requirements are documented in the
company’s health and safety plans, traffic management plans, contract work
programmes, quality assurance programmes, policies, and procedural documents.
Contract specifications include plans, diagrams, and special technical conditions.
They do not include special administrative conditions.
Manufacturer’s instructions may include specifications, installation, handling, use and
maintenance instructions and safety data sheets.

Element 1
Plan and prepare for surface drainage control.
Performance criteria
1.1
Drainage of site is planned in accordance with contract specifications and work
programme.
1.2
Plant and equipment are selected in accordance with company requirements.
Element 2
Supervise the removal of surface water.
Range
Resource Management Act 1991 and Territorial Resource Management Plan
(TRMP) must be complied with.
Performance criteria
2.1
Supervision ensures that temporary drainage system is established to divert
surface and subsurface water to storm water drainage system in accordance
with contract specifications.
2.2
Supervision ensures that surface holes and depressions are filled in accordance
with contract specifications.
2.3
Supervision ensures that appropriate falls are provided for surface water drains
in accordance with contract specifications.
2.4
Supervision ensures that site surface water is removed and directed to
temporary drainage system in accordance with contract specifications.

Element 3
Supervise the construction of sumps and removal of water by pumping.
Performance criteria
3.1
Supervision ensures that sumps are constructed to specified levels and
locations in accordance with contract specifications and site conditions.
3.2
Supervision ensures that surface or submersible pumps are correctly installed in
accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
3.3
Supervision ensures that water is pumped to temporary drainage system in
accordance with contract specifications.
3.4
Supervision ensures that tools and equipment are cleaned, maintained, and
stored in accordance with company requirements.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body
with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from
assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
