Definitions
Team refers to a group of two or more people, one of whom has formal authority to
act as leader, working to achieve a common workplace goal or objective, with the
group having collective responsibility for the outcome.
Teamwork is the joint action by a team to complete a given task.
Team fit is the ability to work well with a team of people who may have diverse
personalities and cultural backgrounds; to operate within organisational norms of
behaviour, manners, dress and language; and show respect for differing systems of
belief in a workplace.
Work team is a team of employees that combine different skills and talents to work
without the usual managerial supervision toward a common purpose or goal.
Forming, storming, norming, and performing are terms used in the team development
model proposed by: B Tuckman, ‘Developmental sequence in small groups’ (1965)
Psychological Bulletin, 636, 384-399.
