Definitions
Vagahau Niue refers to the language of Niue. This unit standard involves written
Vagahau Niue;
Wordlist refers to a provided limited vocabulary.
Simple refers to simple sentences, simple compound sentences, limited use of
dependent clauses, and common usage vocabulary;
Familiar refers to topics and settings that are within the learner’s personal
experience.

This unit standard requires two written passages in Vagahau Niue, of at least 150
words per passage. A wordlist and/or Vagahau Niue-English dictionary may be
used.

Responses may be in written or spoken English. Achievement of the evidence
requirements allows for minor errors in translation and English expression.

Endorsement of village language variation may be conducted by pulotu, village or
community appointed experts.
