During the last two years FT positions for the Social Sciences have been voted as number one priorities (Political Science 2008 then Sociology 2009) by the CDCPD but were frozen due to the state wide and district budget crises. Criteria 6: Enhancing Existing Programs With the loss of our FT Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, and Anthropology instructors the Humanities area has been severely impacted in these core areas of study. Part of our college mission is to prepare students with an empowered sense of community connection, human development and citizenship rights; however, dedicated FT faculty no longer exist in most of these areas. Funding a FT Sociology position would guarantee a revitalization of an important area of study that concentrates on the functioning of the society we live in.
