This unit standard is specifically designed for use within a wholesale travel environment. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 25189 version 1 Page 2 of 3 3 Definitions Travel industry workplace policies and procedures refer to documented instructions about workplace expectations, these must include but are not limited to – customer service delivery, personal presentation, legislation, organisational structure, business objectives. Wholesale travel environment refers to those workplaces involved in inbound and outbound travel. In the travel industry these workplaces are also known as outbound tour operators, general sales agents (GSAs), inbound tour operators and/or domestic tour operators. Components refers to the individual parts of the overall package and may include but is not limited to – flights, accommodation, transfers, rental cars, cruises, rail and/or coach journeys, sightseeing. 4 Recommended texts for this unit standard are the ServiceIQ training resources. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Demonstrate knowledge of the role responsibilities of a wholesale travel consultant. Performance criteria 1.1 The role responsibilities of a wholesale travel consultant are described in accordance with travel industry workplace policies and procedures. Range responsibilities may include but are not limited to – answering enquiries, quotations, bookings, amendments, cancellations. Element 2 Complete consultancy tasks in a wholesale travel environment. Performance criteria 2.1 Specialist divisional product knowledge is demonstrated in accordance with travel industry workplace policies and procedures. Range 2.2 respond to specialist division enquiries; evidence is required for three enquiries. Quotations are prepared in accordance with travel industry workplace policies and procedures. Range evidence is required for four quotations, each with a minimum of three different components. Range 2.4 Amendments to bookings are processed in accordance with travel industry workplace policies and procedures. Range 2.5 evidence is required for four bookings, each with a minimum of three different components. evidence is required for two amendments. Cancellations to bookings are processed in accordance with travel industry workplace policies and procedures. Range evidence is required for two cancellations. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP).
