People credited with this unit standard are able to describe compliance officer powers and tow company responsibility in relation to having a vehicle towed, and operating procedures when having a vehicle towed. These include the application of legislation. 2 Legislation relevant to this unit standard is the Land Transport Act 1998, the Land Transport Rule 81001 Operator Licensing 2007, the Local Government Act 1974, the Transport Act 1962, and the Transport (Towage Fees) Notice 2004. 3 Assessment against this unit standard can be in one specific organisational context applying to the specific policies and procedures of that organisation. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Describe compliance officer powers and tow company responsibility in relation to having a vehicle towed. Evidence requirements 1.1 Compliance officers’ powers in relation to having a vehicle towed are described in accordance with section 68BA of the Transport Act 1962, and section 356A Local Government Act 1974. Evidence requirements 2.1 The type of tow is explained and the applicable tow fees are described in accordance with section 43A of the Transport Act 1962 and the Transport (Towage Fees) Notice 2004. 2.2 Operating procedures are described in terms of vehicle relocation, legislation, and organisational requirements. 2.3 Evidential requirements are explained in accordance with organisational requirements. 2.4 Safety procedures are explained in accordance with organisational requirements.
