Element 1
Identify available metal boatbuilding construction options.
Range

inverted, modularisation, sequence of hull component construction, use of
subcontracting.
Performance criteria

Available construction options are identified in relation to boat characteristics.

Available construction options are identified in relation to production
requirements.

boat characteristics – dimensions, weight, structural
characteristics, power source.
production requirements – site dimensions and facilities, launching
facilities, available personnel and equipment, time targets,
workload on other jobs.
Available construction options are identified in relation to the requirements of
subcontractors.

Selected method enables boats to be constructed within specified timeframes.

Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
