Classification Boating Industries > Boatbuilding Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 All required equipment and plant must be set up, started up, operated, and shut down in accordance with organisation policies and procedures. 2 All work practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented worksite health and safety procedures (where these exceed code) for personal, product, and worksite health and safety, and must meet the obligations required under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and the Resource Management Act 1991, and subsequent amendments. 3 All work practices must meet documented worksite quality management systems. These include documentation of activities, events, reporting, and decisions. 4 Range Simple mechanical plant may include –drum sander, bench sander, veneer hot presses, surface planer, section and plate rollers, pipe bender, drill press, dust extractor. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare to operate simple mechanical plant Evidence requirements 1.1 Machines, ancillary equipment, product, and material hazards are identified and precautions taken in accordance with organisation policies and procedures and occupational safety and health standards. 1.2 The process and sequence of operation are identified in accordance with task requirements and organisation policies and procedures. Evidence requirements 2.1 Raw material is identified, inspected, and loaded in accordance with task requirements and organisation policies and procedures. 2.2 Production processes are carried out in accordance with task requirements and organisation policies and procedures. 2.3 Finished product is inspected, stored, and/or dispatched in accordance with task requirements and organisation policies and procedures. 2.4 Sustainable practices and processes are performed in accordance with task requirements and organisation policies and procedures.
