All procedures must comply with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and
Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995, and their subsequent
amendments.

Range
portable power tools may include – saws, planer, drill, sanders, grinders
grinders, nail gun, brushes, buffs, wrenches, jacks, hammers, routers;
power sources may include – electrical (AC and DC cordless),
pneumatic, hydraulic.

Select and use portable power tools and their power source, relevant to the task.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Portable power tools are selected in terms of the work tasks to be completed.
1.2
Portable power tools are used in accordance with manufacturer’s
recommendations and organisational requirements.
Range
safety requirements must include – identifying potential hazards
(eliminate, isolate and/or minimise), use of electrical safeguards.

Evidence requirements
2.1
Portable power tools which are unsafe, faulty, in need of repair or maintenance
are identified and corrective actions taken in accordance with organisation
procedures.
2.2
Portable power tools are cleaned, serviced, maintained, and stored in
accordance with organisation procedures.
