Practice may vary between workplaces because of the potential variation of production trailerboat types. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Identify support requirements for production trailer boats. Performance criteria 1.1 Support requirements are identified according to situation. Range 1.2 during transport on trailer, launch, and retrieval. Boat strong points are identified in terms of boat construction. Range includes but is not limited to – internal structure girder locations, chines, keel. Element 2 Describe production boat trailer types and maintenance procedures. Performance criteria 2.1 Boat trailer types are described in terms of support requirements. Range 2.2 skid type trailers, keel roller style trailers, multi roller style trailers. Boat trailer maintenance procedures are described in accordance with workplace practice. Range may include but is not limited to – flushing, winterising brakes, couplings, winch rope securement, servicing of lighting and wheel bearings. Performance criteria 3.1 Locations of typical attachment tie down strong points are identified in terms of boat construction and boat protection. Range 3.2 transom, bow. Methods of securing are described in accordance with workplace practice. Element 4 Describe NZ Land Transport Safety Rules relating to production trailer boats. Performance criteria 4.1 Braking requirements are identified according to boat weight, tow vehicle weight, and stopping distance. 4.2 Maximum width requirements are identified in accordance with Land Transport New Zealand rules. 4.3 Maximum height requirements are identified in accordance with Land Transport New Zealand rules. 4.4 Flag display requirements are identified in accordance with Land Transport New Zealand rules. Please note Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP).
