Subject: Practicum in Health Science
Objective: The student will continue to identify will identify the cranial nerves and the areas of the
body they innervate, as well as the sensations that stimulate them.
Activities: Students will observe live demonstration from teacher of how to perform cranial nerve I,
II, II and III, and III, IV, VI exam on a patient.
Monday
Complete and grade cranial nerve worksheet
Materials: penlight, reflex hammer, tuning forks, cotton swab, Snellen eye chart
Follow Up/HW:
Tuesday
Objective: The student will observe and participate in hospital rotations at Methodist Hospital
Activities: Go to assigned departments to observe, participate, and/or perform various tasks. Fill out
observation form
Materials: pen, paper, clipboard, lab coat, scrubs
Follow Up/HW:
Objective: The student will observe and perform the examination of the cranial nerves and the areas
of the body they innervate, as well as the sensations that stimulate them. The student will learn
indications of positive and negative results of the exams.
Activities:
Wednesday: Students will observe live demonstration from teacher of how to perform cranial nerve
V, VII, VIII, IX and X, XI, and XII exam on a patient. Learn and discuss positive and negative
indicators.
Wed/Thur
Thursday: Teacher will review all cranial nerve exams again for students then they will begin to
practice performing exams on their own to prepare for practical examination.
Med Term Quiz: Ch. 3, rest of packet

Friday
