A project on School Health and Reading Programme (SHRP) a
USAID – RTI Project in collaboration with the Ministry of
Education and Sports . I lead a team on Local Language Board
Development.

Institutional Capacity for Training Leadership and Management of
Ugandan Universities ( I am a participant and the team leaders are
Dr. J.L. Nkata – Director General Uganda Management Institute,

Assessment (EGRA) Phase II supported by USAID. The project
was organised by Research Triangle International, USA. I worked
on this project as a language consultant. The Team Leader was Dr.
Margaret Dubeck.

Review of the Advanced Secondary Level Curriculum organized
by the National Curriculum Development Centre. I worked on this
review process as a Luganda Language Consultant.

Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) organized by Research

 A grant of 23,000,000 Uganda Shillings (USD 10,000) in form of fees waiver (tuition and
functional fees) from Makerere University to pursue a Ph D. The grant lasted from
2005 – 2009.
 A grant of 20,000,000 Uganda Shillings (USD 8,500) research funds from the School of
Postgraduate Studies, Makerere University to carry Ph D research. The grant was
obtained in 2007.
 A grant of USD 3484 to attend the 2012 Science and Art of Language Teaching (SALT)
Conference organised by the Universiti Teknologi MARA Perlis in Malaysia from 9 –
10 September, 2012. The theme of the conference was ‘Beyond 2012: Building the
Future With What We Have’. In this conference I presented a Paper entitled
‘Reflections on Indigenous Knowledge Systems and the Language Teacher Curriculum
in Public Universities in Uganda’. The grant was obtained from the NGAA at Makerere
University. This project is supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
 A grant of € 1700 to attend the 4th European Conference on African Studies (ECAS 4) in
Upssala Sweden. The Conference took place on 15 – 18th June, 2010. The theme of the
conference was ‘African Engagements: On Whose Terms?’ In this conference I
presented a paper entitled ‘Challenges to African Development: The Medium of
Instruction in Uganda’s Education System’. The grant was obtained from the Finnish
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 A grant of 3 million Uganda Shillings (USD 1355) to attend the 6th International
Conference on Higher Education Marketing (ICHEM) that took place on 18-20 April,
2011 in Cairo, Egypt. In this conference I presented a paper entitled ‘Role of Language
in Branding University Education in Uganda’. The grant was obtained from the College
of Education & External Studies, Makerere University.
