Students will be working on

about key details in literary
texts. Students will also identify
how characters respond to
events and challenges. We will
be comparing and contrasting
two versions of the same story
such as The Three Little Pigs.
Students will also start reading
informational texts and identify

researching water to write an
informational piece informing
others about the water cycle. We
will be using different resources
such as videos, books, and
articles to gather information.
Later this month, students will
work on an opinion piece where
they will state their opinion and
include reasons to support their
opinion.

Social Studies
We will be learning how
organizations and leaders help the
community. Students will also
learn how to demonstrate
democratic skills and attitudes.
Towards the end of the month, we
will be learning about the effects
of our personal choices on
ourselves and others.
Science
Our science will be integrated with
our writing this month as we learn
about the 4 stages of the water
cycle. We will describe the
properties of water as well as the
properties of Earth’s surface and
atmosphere. We will identify
natural features of continents as
well as the ocean floor.
