Activity: As you read your selection, follow the steps below to support your understanding.
Pre-Reading Activity:
1. Look at the title and opening lines of the article. Write a list or a paragraph about what you
already know related to the topic.

predictions about what you are about to read and/or some questions you hope to be able to
answer by the end of the article.
