High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Anatomy & Physiology Syllabus William Fesperman Purpose of Course: The purpose of this course is to present the facts of anatomy and physiology in a manner that would allow the student to grasp the knowledge of the human organism: how is it built, how it is maintained and how it acts and reacts to its internal and external environment. This course is actually a college preparatory course which involves biology, chemistry, and physics. The student will be asked to think critically, learn medical terms, and answer and discuss actual clinical cases. Students will learn how the body works, and this class will help those who are interested in a health science career. Summary of Course Content: Cells Body Chemistry Respiratory System Digestive System Integumentary System Circulatory System Skeletal System Muscular System Reproduction Nervous System Immune System Lymphatic System Endocrine System Excretory System Supplies: -College Rule Composition Notebook -writing utensils - Scissors - Colored Pencils - Tissue - Paper Towels -gloves (1 box) Each class day each student is required to have in their possession ….. -College Rule Composition Notebook -writing utensils - Scissors - Colored Pencils The other materials will be left in the classroom Grading Procedures: Assignments will consist of reading assignments from the text book, scientific article summaries, quizzes at the beginning of each class period, practice question sets (practice question sets are mandatory!, lab activities (dissections) and lab write-ups and exams over each chapter. Grading Breakdown 40% Tests, Quizzes 20% Procedures and Safety 20% Lab Communication and Scientific Analysis 20% Practice Assignments Academic Integrity: Any form of cheating, including (but not limited to) plagiarism, forgery, and falsification will not be tolerated in this course. Any student caught cheating will receive a zero for that assignment and a parent/guardian will be notified. Disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with school policy.
