Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s), Happy Spring! We hope that everyone enjoyed their break! Thank you again for all of your support! We can hardly believe that we are about to start the final quarter of the year. We look forward to a great last semester with your children! Here's a look ahead to what the students will be learning over the next two weeks: Math — Students will be able to identify and apply strategies to learn addition and subtraction facts within 20. Classes will also be able to compose a ten to add a 3-digit number and a 3digit number on a 1-1000 Chart. They will also be able to add four 2-digit numbers using base ten models and represent strategies with equations. They will also be able to use different strategies, such as using models or a number line diagram, to add two 3-digit numbers. Students will also be able to sort addition problems by determining if it is necessary to compose a ten and/or a hundred. They will also be able to ask and answer such questions as who, what, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. They will also be able to identify real-life connections between words and their use. Students will also be able to distinguish shades of meaning among closely related adjectives. Writing —Students will begin learning about and writing poetry. They will be able to use words and phrases to describe thoughts and feelings. They will include adjectives as they write.
