Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

Thank you so much for all of your continuous support! We are grateful for all that you do at home to support your children.

Here's a look ahead to what the students will be learning over the next two weeks:

Math — Students will be able to tell time to the nearest five minutes using analog and digital clocks. They will also be able to tell and write the time using a.m. and p.m. Students will also be able to state the time in multiple ways, using such terms as quarter to, quarter after, etc.

Reading — Students will be able to describe how words and phrases supply rhythm and meaning in a poem. Classes will also be able to use information gained from illustrations and words in a print or digital text to demonstrate understanding of its characters, setting, or plot. They will also be able to recount key details from a text read aloud. During the second week, students will be able to ask and answer such questions as who, what, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. They will also be able to distinguish shades of meaning among closely related verbs.

Writing —Students will work on writing opinion pieces in which they introduce the book, state an opinion about the book, supply reasons to support their opinion, and then provide a concluding statement. They will also be able to use an apostrophe to form contractions and frequently occurring possessives. Classes will also be able to use adjectives and adverbs and choose between them depending on what is to be modified.

Science — The students will be able to describe the relationship between the components of a habitat and the basic needs of plants for growth and survival based on the observable changes of a seed. They will also be able to identify, sequence, and describe the stages in the life cycle of various plants and animals. Classes will also be able to explain how life cycles differ from species to species.

Social Studies — Students will be preparing for this week’s ECON

Fair. They will also be able to describe how people meet in market communities around the world. Classes will also be able to explain different ways to pay for goods and services.

Students will also be able to identify and explain economic

choices people make. They will also be able to identify the positive and negative aspects of an economic choice.

Spelling/Word Work — We will continue to work on different activities with their words throughout the two-week period. At the end of the two-week period, students will be given a spell check to see if they have mastered the spelling of the words in addition to knowing the pattern that the word follows.
