Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s), Thank you so much for all of your continuous support! We are grateful for all that you do at home to support your children. Thank you for all of the wonderful goods that your children brought in for the Econ Fair, and thank you for all of your donations as well! Here's a look ahead to what the students will be learning over the next two weeks: Math — Students will be able to recognize that equal shares of the same whole need not have the same shape. They will also be able to sort partitioned shapes into examples and non-examples of equal shares. Classes will also be able to determine equal shares of shapes. Students will also be able to match an array to a number line drawing and to an equation. They will also be able to write an equation to represent the total number of objects in an array as the sum of equal addends. Reading — Students will be able to acknowledge and understand the differences in points of view of characters, including speaking in a different voice for each character. They will also be able to describe the overall structure of a story, including describing how the beginning introduces the story and the ending concludes the action. Classes will also be able to identify real-life connections between words and their use. Students will also be able to ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. They will also be able to describe how characters in a story respond to major events. Writing —Students will be able to finish writing their book reviews and will work on publishing them. They will also be able to add drawings to these opinion pieces. Science — The students will be able to identify and sequence the stages in the life cycle of a radish plant. They will also be able to discuss and identify the conditions required for a plant to grow through each stage of its life cycle. Health — Students will be able to discuss take care of them, help them mature, help help them be responsible. They will also differences between when they were babies how their families them stay safe, and be able to compare the and now. Social Studies — Students will be able to identify and explain economic choices that people make. They will also be able to identify and explain how economic choices have consequences. They will also be able to give examples of the positive and negative aspects of choices. Classes will also be able to describe different market situations where buyers and sellers meet to exchange goods and services. Spelling/Word Work — We will resume with new spelling words after spring break. Reminders— •We are always grateful for all of your snack donations, as well as your school supply donations! Mrs. Oliva’s class is in need of soap and hand sanitizer. Also, please check in with your child about his/her own school supplies. Some children at this point in the year may need new crayons, pencils, etc. •There is a professional day for teachers on Thursday, March 24th. There is no school for students. •Spring break will take place from Friday, March 25th, to Sunday, April 3rd. School will resume on Monday, April 4th.
