Detailed description
Room 3303 in the Temple Building serves two computer labs. Switches are housed in a floor mounted
box in the front of the room. Several faculty members have requested the box be moved as it impacts
the use of the white board; Network Services also desires to move the switches to improve
accessibility to the switches and better comply with physical security standards. A separate
infrastructure project has been approved (HD540070) to re-cable both labs back to a network closet.
However, that work may not be completed by the end of the G2B project. Fiber cable to room 3303 is
inadequate to allow the current location to come into compliance with G2B standards.
This change request is to remove Temple Room 3303 from the scope of the G2B project to avoid
unnecessary expenses to improve fiber to a location that will soon be abandoned. When the recabling project is complete this summer, the building will meet all G2B standards.
