Students will study sculpture as a three dimensional communication, and will be encouraged to research cultural sculpture relating to their own ethnic history. Students will study sculpting the figure, and will also demonstrate knowledge of sectional mold construction. Not repeatable. COURSE OBJECTIVES At the completion of the course the student will be able to: 1. Develop additional intermediate skills in the handling of sculpture, sculpture in other mediums (including wax, clay, wood, stone, and/or bronze), and sectional mold making. 2. Synthesize an individual aesthetic from course information, research, and personal/ethnic history. 3. Critically analyze and assess sculpture of peers, contemporary, and historical sources. 4. Demonstrate safe use of materials, studio, and tools. 5. Communicate originality and independence in sculpture.
