2000 Ford Focus 2.0L split port, engine
VIN 3
1. Obvious misfire under a load.
2. No MIL
3. No DTCs present in KOEO, Memory,
OBD Global and pending.
4. Check TID 53 in proprietary generic,
found misfire % failed in cylinder #3.
5. Scope engine with Modis and found
burn time at 492 micro seconds on #3.
6. Inspect #3 plug wire and found that
the wire was not properly seated on the
spark plug, as a result, the plug boot
was burnt to a crisp.
7. Note: when 2 misfires (cyl 3 & 4) were
set simultaneously, the MIL flashed and
DTCs P0303, P0304 set.
8. After the additional misfire was set, the
Mode 6 data for cylinder #4 updated
indicating a fail.
