The Director, Business Environmental Program (BEP), is responsible for managing the delivery of

3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without
supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or
the university as a whole.
Level of Freedom:
The incumbent has considerable latitude for initiative as evidenced by the number of programs which
depend strongly on the outreach of director and the individual program coordinators. The position
allows a fair degree of autonomy and independent judgment with coordination and input on strategic
issues coming from other Directors within SBDC.
Impact:
Program funding is dependent upon the Director’s effective execution of contract and grant
responsibilities. Failure to assess proposals can result in funding poorly designed projects. This may
lead to project failure and put the program at risk. . Exceptional performance provides opportunities
for program expansion within Nevada and opportunities to contribute to development of similar
programs in other states. Providing proper technical and regulatory information and recommendations
is critical to successful performance of contract responsibilities and to avoid liability associated with
providing incorrect information.
