Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Coordinator for Programs and Services is a key part of the Associated Students of University of Nevada (ASUN) Center for Student Engagement (CSE). These programs include the ASUN, student publications, Campus Escort, undergraduate academic and research initiatives, student employment, campus wide student programming, clubs and organizations, civic engagement initiatives, new student iniatiatives, emergency student support funding, scholarships, leadership development, and marketing and media efforts. The Coordinator negotiates contracts, schedules, trains, and supervises student staff, maintains equipment and vehicles, and manages budgets. The Coordinator works closely with the Associate Director of Programs and services to develop and implement a comprehensive student development model to increase retention, persistence and graduation rate of students. 2. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 40% - Supervision Supervise, hire and train student staff – for Campus Escort, Sound and Lights and Front Desk operations in accordance with procedures Communicate relevant NSHE, university and ASUN policies and procedure to employees Schedule and supervise staff to meet the needs of clients served Provide evaluation of student employees on a regular basis and take appropriate corrective action when needed Establish work performance standards in order to maintain a high quality of service and insure these standards are clearly articulated to employees 40% - Program Administration Manage budgets Negotiate contracts for all equipment and uniforms; negotiate best deals, offers and service for various pieces of equipment including vehicles, radios, cellular phones, uniforms, etc., subject to Purchasing department requirements Submit written proposals and make presentations in order to obtain funding from state funds, grants and student fees Manage capital resources/equipment including a fleet of vehicles, sound equipment, electronics and radios Keep accurate records to substantiate all expenditures, employee performance evaluations and delivery of service Advise and guide students in their intellectual and interpersonal development 20% - Assessment Compile data/statistics to support service funding and staffing Implement regular assessment of quality of service delivery and make relevant changes based on assessment results Use assessment data to support funding requests and use of human and capital resources for ASUN programs and services Use assessment results to strategically plan ASUN programs and services for future expansion in accordance with the University master plan Position Description Coordinator, Programs and Services Page 3 3. Level of Freedom: The ASUN Campus Escort Program provides transportation to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff. The program has a tremendous impact on creating a climate of safety on our campus. The Coordinator must hire, supervise and train a disciplined group of employees that understand the importance of getting members of our community safely from one place to another. The Coordinator also manages the budgets so that resources are available throughout the fiscal year. The Coordinator manages a Food Pantry program that serves students with the highest immediate need. Impact: Poor financial forecasting could force a reduction service hours or could cause the service to discontinue operation before the end of the semester impacting student and staff safety. Poor assessment of risk management and liability issues can place the department and university at risk. 4.
