Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Coordinator, Education in the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) collaborates with the Assistant Director, AHEC, and other program support staff in providing assistance in the development, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of undergraduate medical education courses, required and elective, in each of the four years in medical school and clinical rotations in selected residency graduate education programs that have a community based rural or urban underserved program component. The coordinator provides liaison and program support to the joint University of Washington MEDEX physician assistant program and collaborative undergraduate and graduate health professional education programs as directed. The individual coordinates and facilitates the SEARCH project with the State of Nevada primary Care Development Center. The Coordinator is responsible for reporting, tracking and student aspects of the program. The position reports to the Assistant Director, AHEC. 2. Level of Freedom: The individual assists in the coordination of a number of undergraduate and graduate medical, nursing, and health professions programs that utilize clinical community faculty as primary preceptors throughout this state and the neighboring communities in Northern California. The position provides primary support to housing volunteers and other members of the community that are involved in or impacted by these outreach education programs. The individual works closely with the Assistant Director on decisions associated with the position, but must work independently, with initiative, and with some latitude in decision-making. Impact: Because these programs are highly visible in many communities, the collaborative decisions made by this individual have an impact on the image, reputation and credibility of UNSOM and UNR throughout the state. 4.
