What We Learned
This Week…

Monday 3/10
Scholastic Book Orders Due
Math – This week we learned how to divide fractions,
whole numbers, and mixed numbers. We also reinforced
our problem solving skills by solving word problems with
fractions and circle graphs.
Reading – In our book clubs we began our author study on
Avi. We completed a scavenger hunt to learn facts about
Avi’s life and his books. We also noticed types of craft Avi
uses and the types of characters and settings in his books.
Writing – We reviewed grammar while peer editing and
revising our writing. Then we completed our historical
fiction writing unit by publishing our stories using
technology and sharing them with the class.
Science – This week we learned about kites and observed
how they are heavier-than-air craft and how they achieve
lift by wind. We compared kites and hot air balloons and
then constructed our own kites that we can fly.
