Q.1. Write an essay describing any one volume of Bergey's Manual of
Systematic Bacteriology. Include specific details of any three of the
bacterial groups found within this volume.
Q.2. Discuss how bacteria are routinely classified and named as species.
Q.3. Write an essay on the role of bacteria in aquatic sediments.
Q.4. Write notes on both (i) herpes viruses, and (ii) pox viruses.
Q.5. Write an essay entitled “The microbiology of the carbon cycle”.
Q.6. Describe the microbiology of anaerobic digestion. In your answer briefly describe how this
process is different from aerobic wastewater treatment.
Q.7. With the aid of a diagram outline the basic structure of human immunoglobulins (antibodies).
Explain the terms “active” and “passive” immunity.
