Third Grade
Third grade students explored symmetry with
transparent mirrors. They found lines of
symmetry and connected the concept to
adding/subtracting signed numbers. Students
investigated 3D shapes, area, perimeter and
volume later in the week.
Fourth Grade
Fourth grade students reviewed pan-balances
and solved one-step equations this week. They
also investigated how the x and y-coordinates
connect to “what’s my rule” problems. Students
found rules and graphed them on a coordinate
grid. A test is scheduled for next week.
Fifth Grade
Fifth graders explored the concepts of
proportions and ratios this week. They used the
cross-products and pre-algebra strategies to
solve proportions. Students also examined food
nutrition labels to manually calculate the grams
of protein, carbohydrates and fat of certain foods.
