Our research focuses on optimising new product development processes and systems. We work closely with industry to diagnose problems; design solutions; and deploy them in order to reduce cost; shorten lead time and increase revenue. We adopt a systems approach to our work - we focus on people; process and technology related issues. Title & brief description of PhD project (suitable for publication on web): Best practice project management tools in new product development This project aims to examine the use of project management tools and practices in small hightechnology firms and to identify what contributes to project success. You will generate list of all relevant project management practices and tools and categorise these tools according to the key stages of the new product development process. You will then conduct a survey of Irish hightechnology small-to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to empirically test the relative importance of each tool. Factor analysis should reveal which criteria are the most important to this target sample. From this analysis best practice models will be designed and tested.
