PI’s research interests and activities include human computer interaction, user design, user modelling and its applications. Currently researching interaction models for information and knowledge management systems. Title & brief description of PhD project (suitable for publication on web): Personalised user interaction in social media systems Retrieval and organisation of data and information from social media systems (e.g. facebook and twitter) is a very active area of research which poses several challenges to researchers and developers (scale of data, heterogeneity, real-time retrieval). This project will involve researching and developing suitable user interaction models based on users’ multiple needs. The goal of the project is to identify task at hand, users’ interests, users’ interaction style/model and to present information and paths to information based on those tasks and interaction styles. Version 2 Universidade Nacional da Irlanda em Galway -- Ciência sem Fronteiras Unique selling points of PhD project in NUI Galway: For this project, there is a much experience in user modelling, user interaction IR, data mining, social media in Information technology and also access to expertise in psychology. The universities boasts suitable supports for international students (international office), structured PhD programmes where students can support their research through related modules.
