Opening Day Enrollments
Dr. Hartley shared that we are up 13 students from last year and 59 students from three years
ago. To date, this year we have received 143 students transferring into our district with only
15 transferring out. Chris would like to work with the sites to track how many students are
leaving to go to a charter school or private school because those do not require interdistricts.
Dr. Hartley spoke about strategies to increase the marketing of our district to help increase
enrollment.
Brian Lovell and Colleen Toste both believe that word of mouth help increase our
enrollment. Mr. Lovell does not feel that paid media is worth the cost. Both principals
shared that in their experience parents do shop around. Mr. Macdonald shared that social
media is also a powerful piece of advertising.
5.4
Summer School Report
Summer School Principal Mark Sahlberg shared that summer school was held on the MHS
campus once again. Mark thanked all the staff for being so welcoming. Once again, there
were two options: classroom-based or independent study. Mark reviewed all the courses that
were taken between both programs. Mr. Sahlberg felt this was another successful summer.
Dr. Hartley shared that we are one of the few districts that still offer a summer program and
that it serves as excellent drop-out prevention.

Summer Maintenance Report
Executive Director Dave Lonn thanked all the summer maintenance crew for their hard work.
