GREEK MYTHOLOGY ROLEPLAYING ASSIGNMENT Throughout this course, we’ve discussed how a civilization’s religion reveals and explains quite a bit about how they perceive and understand their world and human nature. The Ancient Greeks practiced a polytheistic religion in which each god in the pantheon was associated for particular aspects of life. Moreover, each god’s story is didactic and is meant to teach moral lessons. Your Task You will choose one of the gods/demigods/humans below and perform a 3 minute monologue from their perspective. You will research your character independently. Your monologue must include: 1. A brief summary of your character’s myth. 2. Your interpretation of what the myth explains and reveals about the Ancient Greeks and their understanding of the world and human nature. 3. A prop that is relevant to your character and an explanation of its significance. 4. You are to dress up in a way that is appropriate to your character. You may wear a peplos/chiton like the ancient Greeks or you can choose a modern visual depiction of the character. Regardless of your choice, you MUST be dressed modestly and appropriately for a school setting. You DO NOT need to submit a typed script of your monologue so make sure that you communicate all the required information in your monologue. These monologues will occur over TWO days with 15 students presenting on each day. You will sign up for your day.
