News from Room 113 A Peek at our Week December 18, 2015 Reading: We compared a variety of gingerbread stories and looked at the characters, the plot, how each story ended, and where each story took place. The kid’s got to choose their favorite one and write about it. Phonics: (A-Z, or, ar, ur, ir, er, ch, sh, th, wh, ing, ed, ai, ee, ie, oa, ue, ou, ow, oy, oi, oo) We have been working hard on identifying those tricky vowel sounds. We also learned the rule—when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking. We sorted rhyming words and syllables to get extra practice with those skill.s Math: We worked a lot more with teen numbers by using ten frames and connecting cubes to represent those numbers. We have been really gaining an understanding that teen numbers mean a group of ten and some ones. . Please play the math game throughout the week and sign and return the bottom portion on Friday in their purple folders.
