Let us give thanks to the Lord
Sacramental Dates
We thank thee, Lord,
For fields of grain
Gold and ripe from summer’s rain
For hillsides bright
With scarlet trees
That rustle in the autumn breeze,
For friends so dear
For those we love,
For all things sent
From heaven above…
We thank thee, Lord

Virtues At Work at Pauline Vanier
have experienced, witnessed or engaged in
This year at Pauline Vanier School we will continue to focus on the ten virtues: faith, empathy, conscience, hope,
self-control, respect, kindness, love, acceptance, and fairness. The virtues program celebrates positive behaviours
and we will be acknowledging students for their virtuous
behavior. Students ‘caught’ demonstrating a virtue within
the school will be awarded a “Gotcha Sticker”. It is our
goal that integrating the virtues into our students’ daily
lives will encourage them to continue the same positive
behaviours into their adult lives. When we create safe, respectful learning environments, we build and nurture safer
communities for all our citizens. Therefore, a Catholic
school is the ideal place to practice and prepare to live a
virtuous life.
October Virtue of the Month is Empathy
God has given us the ability to form connections with each
other—to live together. Empathy helps us to connect and
live together in safe, caring, inclusive communities. Empathy refers to the ability to identify with and feel other people’s concerns.
Volunteering in our School
We continue to seek volunteers who would like to work
with students, staff and the Catholic School Council. If you
are interested in volunteering you are reminded to complete the volunteer form that was sent home a few weeks
ago and to have the criminal reference check that was sent
home this week completed and brought to a police station
listed on the form. If you require more information please
do not hesitate to contact the school.

Dates to Remember
Dr. Simone’s Warehouse
Saturday Oct. 5
We are collecting hard candy for Dr. Simone’s Warehouse Tuesday, Oct. 8
where the hard candy will be distributed to children suffering from malnutrition. Malnutrition shuts down the body’s
digestive track and often children cannot eat, even when
regular healthy food is given to them. However, the doctors have discovered that candy, with its high content of
sugar can start the digestive track working. This allows
these children to consume food, thus saving their lives.
Please help us save children’s lives.

Pizza Lunch
Pauline Vanier Catholic School Council is pleased to offer
our students a Bo sto n Pizza lunch program for this school
year. Throughout the year, each student will receive an
order form that will be used to order for an extended period of time (approximately 5-6 weeks). All orders must be
in by the due date and late orders will not be accepted.
Cash payment or a cheque made out to Pauline Vanier
Catholic School will be accepted. If your child is absent or
on a trip that day the pizza order can be picked up after
11:40am or sent home with a sibling. Pre-orders will be the
only way to obtain a pizza lunch. Please note that pizza
will no longer be sold to students on Tuesdays unless they
have pre-ordered and paid. Each slice of pizza will cost
$2.00. All proceeds from our lunch program will be used
to support student activities and to purchase materials.
Thank you in advance for your support.
