The Ramayana and the Epic Hero
In the Ramayana we see that an epic hero has to be larger than life—the strongest,
smartest, bravest, and the best—because such a hero represents the ideal.
If you could create a superhero to solve the problems of the world today, what
characteristics and abilities would that superhero require? What problems would your
superhero tackle first, and how would he or she solve them? Give your superhero a name
and describe his powers. Like Rama who is assisted by his loyal friend Hanuman and
who uses magical weapons, your hero may be helped by friends or special tools.
