Principal E. Plastina A Woman For All Seasons ~ Secretary N. Russo ~ Superintendent L. Papaloni ~ Trustee A. Abbruscato ~ Parish Priest: Fr. C. Macatangga Stay Connected As we look at the life of Mary, we see her constantly reflecting on the plan God had for her; we see her seeking, searching, loving, responding to God’s call. Mary as a woman and a mother, brings us to reflect on the meaning of woman and mother in today’s world. Mary listened to God’s word, reflected on it and acted on it. Today if we are to know God , we must first listen to His word. We must, as it were, open the doors to our lives and let Him in. There are times when only a mother's faith can help us on life's way and inspire in us the confidence we need from day to day. Mary Most Holy, Mother of God, For a mother's heart and a mother's faith and a mother's steadfast love were fashioned by the angels and sent from God above. Pray for us. --Author Unknown Virtue of the Month: Acceptance Kindness Join the Dufferin-Peel There are times when only a mother's love can share the joy we feel when something we've dreamed about quite suddenly is real. This month we will celebrate the virtue of Acceptance. Thepathy virtue of acceptance describes our ability to look at attitudes and actions of those around us and then stop and consider without judging them. The virtue of acceptance means that we look beyond what we see - a person’s skin colour, ethnic background, religion, age, gender - and see a person created and loved by God. Wishing all mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, a wonderful and loving Mother’s Day! Congratulations to our Grade 2 Students who received the Sacrament of First Communion on Saturday, April 30, 2016! Congratulations to our Grade 7 & 8 Students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday May 1, 2016! Thank you to Father Carlos, Deo Simao and the Cristo Rei staff for their assistance in preparing our students for the sacraments. CATHOLIC SCHOOL COUNCIL The School Council Spring Fling Dance-a-thon was a fun event. We raised just over $2700 in donations. Thank you to our families for your continued support in all our Council initiatives that enhance the well-being and success of our children. YOUTH FAITH AMBASSADORS Our Youth Faith Ambassadors visited Dr. Simone’s Warehouse on May 2, 2016. Our food donations were well received, packed immediately, and placed in a container by our own students to send to help those in need in Peru. Thank you to all who donated. Our Youth Faith Ambassadors will prepare our Closing/Graduation Mass for Thursday, June 23 at 9:30 a.m. Parents are welcome. In light of the change of seasons, we would ask that you review with your child(ren) appropriate dress expectations. We ask for your support as we encourage a dress code that reflects the school as a place of learning. Please also review with your child(ren) that what may be acceptable in the primary grades, may not be appropriate at the Junior or Intermediate level. Students who come to school with inappropriate clothing, will be asked to phone their parents to arrange for a change of clothing. SCHOOL COMMUNICATION As you may be aware, we are now sending school communication electronically. Thank you to our many families who have signed up to receive information such as newsletters sent directly to their email account as an attachment. Newsletters and other communication will continue to be sent out to those families who have signed up. If you wish to sign up please contact the Office.
