Student Assignment
POLICY STATEMENT
The Principal/Guidance Counselor shall assign students to teachers in heterogeneous
groups, with balanced numbers of male and female students, minority students, at-risk
students, and special needs students, without creating any classes that exceed the state
class size caps based on teacher recommendations when possible. Exceptions to the class
size cap rule may be made in order to provide an appropriate assignment to a newly
enrolled student. The principal shall make final assignments that meet student needs
(including those designated in individual Education Plans an GSSP) and do not upset the
heterogeneous grouping of each classroom.
