POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Audiovisual Technician Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified E (Skilled Trades) JOB SUMMARY: Provide technical audiovisual maintenance and support services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 45% 1. Design, install, and maintain equipment assigned to the IMS department housed at the lecture forum and classrooms; make purchase recommendations; maintain inventory; draw, analyze and interpret schematic diagrams and equipment blueprints; repair of Center for Instructional Telecommunication production equipment; provide technical support for all production activities and other media operations; maintain and troubleshoot equipment and installations. 2. Train and support established technical and engineering standards; develop written reports, equipment and repair requisitions, maintenance records and other materials. 25% 3. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Associate’s degree EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years experience. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Electronic Technician or Broadcast Technologist SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Ability to troubleshoot state-of-art equipment & repair broadcast equipment; knowledge of equipment and formats; ability to draw, analyze and interpret schematic; familiar with the programming languages Visual Basic & C; ability to comply with engineering standards and prepare written proposals. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software. Documentation and schematic design center. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require moderate physical effort in work with moderate (up to 30lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, back, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed with moderate exposure to various disagreeable elements. May also include continuous outdoor work with frequent exposure to poor weather conditions.
