Plan, organize, and develop goals and procedures for the program/section. Represent the program/section with administrators, outside agencies, and others on relevant matters. Supervise subordinate staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 50% 1. Assist the Director of Distance Education in the planning, development, and implementation of distance education program; provide professional administrative support to the dual credit and Virtual College of Texas Distance Education academic program. Manage multiple student service areas and ensure coordination of services with affiliated institutions of higher learning and secondary education. Assist in resolving issues that arise in the day-to-day delivery of the Distance Education academic program. 2. Assist the Director in assessing community needs to identify distance education courses/programs and the appropriate delivery options. Coordinate community outreach presentations and activities to promote distance education programs and recruit students and faculty. 15% 3. Develop, plan and implement instructional support services and serves as a liaison between EPCC and affiliated institutional of higher learning and secondary education to promote the Distance Education program to students and faculty. 10% 4. Consult with and develop positive relationships with affiliated institutions of higher learning and secondary education in response to demand for programs district wide and analyze the feasibility and execution of delivery of these programs. 10% 5. Responsible for supervising, coaching, performance evaluations, and provide direct supervision and support to assigned personnel. 10% 6. Revised: 1/07 & 12/1/08 Page 1 of 2 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years directly related experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: The individual in this position must be able to multi-task and have strong oral and written communication skills. Self-starter with good people skills. Experience working with educational institutions and community organizations. Familiarity with course delivery via Blackboard and other distance education technologies. Experience in the distance education environment as a learner or teacher. Supervisory experience. Program development experience. Experience evaluating educational programs. Experience managing multiple programs simultaneously. Provide administrative support to include resolving enrollment issues, preparing class syllabi, exams, correspondence to faculty and staff. Responsible for inventory control, logging in and out material to schools, maintaining expense and student enrollment documents. Familiar with conducting training clinics/orientations to faculty, students and staff. Coordinate with EPCC TV to promote distance education programs. Occasional travel is required. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with distance education course delivery. 3. Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, e-mail, and presentation software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must occasionally sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Duties require the ability to frequently lift and carry moderately heavy materials weighing up to 30 pounds. With assistance, the employee must occasionally lift and move moderately heavy materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
