Network Access Bridge
The Network Access Bridge (NAB) connects the WAVES
Integrated Base Station (IBS) with remote WAVES systems for
expanded coverage, control and monitoring.

Ordering Information
The Ethernet-enabled NAB connects the WAVES Integrated
Base Station (IBS) to a remote location. It allows a single
Cooper Notification Mass Notification System (MNS)
installation to encompass areas that are beyond the range of a
single RF network by creating a dependent RF network at the
remote location that is controlled by the main IBS.

The NAB-0331 upgrades a NAB-3004 in an existing 2.4 GHz
WAVES system to operate on Windows 7 platform and with
the Integrated Base Station - IBS-0331-HD, which includes the
WAVES 8 software. The NAB must be upgraded to operate
in hybrid solution, which supports both 2.4 GHz and IP
infrastructures.

The NAB-0331 is located at the head-end of the remote system
and consists of:

ersonal computer, running the NAB 8 software (a Windows
service)
• WAVES audio data unit (ADU)
• Power supply
The Base transceiver unit (CRLU-201) from the existing NAB
must be installed in the NAB-0331.
The NAB computer receives commands and digital streaming
audio over an Ethernet connection from the WAVES IBS and
forwards those to the satellite system through the appropriate
communications controller and transceiver. It also receives
status and other reports from the satellite system’s nodes and
sends those back to the IBS. Since a NAB is Ethernet-based,
it can extend the range of WAVES communications to nodes
distributed over a wide area with unlimited distance. Each IBS
can support enough NABs to cover virtually any need.
