II.

Bill Jonson, CAG Chair, called the meeting to order at 8:40 a.m. New members of the CAG introduced themselves.

III.

The minutes of the meeting of April 13, 2001 were not available for review at the meeting. They will be presented for approval at the next meeting.

IV.

Old Business: a.

Status of approval of the Letter of Intent Application. Joe Feaster reported that the official response to the Letter of Intent will be released in one week (May 11, 2001).

V.

Eligibility Document: a.

The group talked about the draft prepared by Ed Royer. As his draft was not available at the meeting. Bill Jonson took the action to distribute it to the group via email. It is also pasted at the end of these minutes. The group agreed to review this draft and to discuss the draft at the next meeting. b.

Linda Saul-Sena reported that Aerial Innovations might be willing to contribute photos of the causeway. She also suggested that the CAG

capture before and after photos of the commercial businesses that are being removed at the east end of the causeway. c.

Katie Cole reported that she was waiting for the segment information before preparing the intrinsic impressions forms. The form will be designed so that people can mail the form back with a stamp.

Additionally, drop boxes will be erected at several locations. These forms will be distributed at the following locations: i.

Welcome Station ii.

Westshore Hyatt iii.

Causeway Beach iv.

Ben T. Davis Beach v.

College to students vi.

Commuters vii.

Boaters, Fishermen, Joggers, d.

Bill Jonson presented a draft of the segment information. The group suggested several changes. Bill will update and distribute via email. A copy of this document is also included at the end of these minutes. The segment listing will be amended to include the mileage for each segment. e.

Tim Kurtz reported that there are at least three existing memo agreements pertaining to maintenance of landscaping along the causeway. Action:

Jane Burmer took the action to obtain these agreements for inclusion in the corridor documentation.

VI.

Other Issues a.

Bill Jonson reported that the Florida Scenic Byways Conference will be held in Orlando on May 29 and 30. Linda Saul-Sena and Jane Burmer asked that registration information be faxed to them by Bill [action completed]. b.

It was noted that the CAG needs a display board that can be taken to public meetings. Tim Kurtz suggested that the Clearwater Engineering graphics group could assist with this display.. c.

The CAG should collect memory impressions as part of their effort. For example the road used to have signs that said “dangerous road next 7 miles”. d.

Bill Jonson will obtain information from the Tampa Bay Estuary Program. e.

Michael Olsen from Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful was suggested as a new member of the CAG.

VII.

Next Meeting a. Meet on May 25 at 8:30 a.m. in the FDOT Clearwater Construction Office

Conference Room (tentative location) b.

The agenda for that meeting is as follows: a.

Ten-minute presentation on the LINKS project. – ACTION: Joe

Feaster to arrange this presentation. b.

Review Ed Royer’s draft document including Corridor Vision statement.
