HSAC.news HOUSE STAFF ADVISORY COUNCIL VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER NOVEMBER 2015 Main Agenda COMMITTEE REPORTS: October HSAC Meeting was canceled Minutes from P&T Committee Meeting (Oct.23rd) Presented by: Dr. Kathryn Bowdoin Lalor - On Nov 3 we will start to charge for any medication that can be "self administered" aka anything except IV meds. For the last 5 years these have apparently been on the house. The committee may push back regarding this change as it could precipitate immense cost and safety issues for the hospital. - Further restricting inhaled ribavarin d/t poor data regarding efficacy (it's already restricted to transplant only). - Pharmacy collaboration agreement: law passed in TN to allow pharmacists to make deals with specific physicians to allow for certain privileges under their name (eg the deal could say that the pharmacist can refill previously written for medications, etc) - Ethacrynic acid is now off formulary - Cetirizine and fexofenadine will now be on the formulary - Antithrombin III (Thrombate) will be on formulary while Atrin is unavailable - Removing methadone, pentazadine, and miscellaneous PCAs from WIZ. Adding more warnings and advice about PCA ordering. Automatically specifies nursing orders to reflect hospital policy. - Clinic decision support staff will be moving to work on the new systems in 2 months. Changes to Wiz/HEO will be very difficult to make after this.
