F2 General Psychiatry
The placement is based at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust and
provides both inpatient and community psychiatry experience. The post is split
equally between Rosewood Unit, St Pancras Hospital, a 12 bedded female only
acute psychiatric ward, and North Camden Recovery and Rehabilitation Team at
The Hoo, Lyndhurst Gardens in Belsize Park.
There is exposure to a wide variety of psychiatric conditions and their
management, including mood disorders, schizophrenia and personality disorders.
There is substantial teamwork in both settings with allied mental health
professionals.
Learning opportunities include:
 Weekly supervision with clinical supervisor
 Ward rounds
 Patient clerking
 Clinic appointments for new and follow up patients
 Home visits
 Weekly generic FY2 teaching at Royal Free
 Weekly psychiatry teaching at St Pancras Hospital

Dr Siobhan Jeffreys (community), Dr Panayiota Petrochilos (inpatient)
Rosewood Unit duties include
 Clerking in new admissions
 Monitoring of mental state and risk assessment
 Physical examination of new admissions
 Venepuncture
 Performing and interpreting ECGs
 Half a day a week of emergency bleep cover for all St Pancras inpatient
wards
 Administration tasks including discharge summaries and letter drafting to
other authorities
North Camden R&R duties include
 Outpatient follow up consultations.
 Care plan reviews with patients and care coordinators
 Outpatient new patient assessments
 Home visits with members of the multidisciplinary team.
 Administrative task including clinic and referral letters
This is an unbanded job and core hours are 0900 – 1700
Mon:
AM – Rosewood Unit ward round
PM – Outpatient follow up clinic at The Hoo
Tues:
all day – Rosewood Unit ward work
Wed:
clinical supervision with Dr Jeffreys, then outpatient
follow up clinic at The Hoo
Thurs:
New patient assessment clinic at The Hoo and
lunchtime FY2 generic teaching at Royal Free
Fri:
Rosewood Unit ward work. Lunchtime psychiatry teaching.
