Alternative Breaks (AB) Coordinator- SP/SU 2016-Winter 2017

VISION Volunteer Center aims to provide students with the opportunity to engage with
communities through holistic service opportunities, mutually beneficial community partnerships,
and immersion programs that coincide with and enhance students' academic and personal goals.

AB Coordinator- Expectations/Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator of the VISION Volunteer Center and in
tandem with the VISION Volunteer Center GA the expectations and responsibilities for a the
Alternative Breaks Coordinator include but are not limited to:
● Plan and facilitate regular AB team meetings
● Participate in Break Away’s Alternative Break Citizenship Schools during the summer of
2016 (date TBD)
● Facilitating the application and interview process for ASB coordinators, site leaders, and
participants
● Organize all trainings and events for coordinators, site leaders, and participants
● Keep appropriate records and documents for the program both regarding participants and
for overall program functions
● Represent VISION in various settings when needed (Eaglepalooza, etc.)
● Attend weekly supervisory meeting with VISION coordinator and weekly staff meeting
● Attend regular meetings with AB Team
● Other tasks as needed

AB Coordinator- Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Community service, community engagement, and volunteer experience strongly preferred
Passion for social justice
Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each term
Cumulative EMU GPA of 2.5 or greater (must be maintained throughout the duration of
employment)
Hours and Compensation
Approximately 10 hours per week. Please note that you cannot work more than 10 hours per
week in this position without first clearing it with the VISION Volunteer Center Coordinator.
$8.50/hr.
